Welcome to Bull’s Inn Fishing Lodge.

Deep within the Eastern Cape Coastal Homeland, nestled in the foothills of what was formally known as the Transkei Wild Coast, lies a small coastal village called Mpame.

Here you find Bull’s Inn Fishing Lodge a dot on the map, but big on fishing. Based on a home from home atmosphere, which makes for a unique expereance and a far cry from your day to day city life. This seperates it from the rest. Accompanied by remote and tranqual rural setting where live stock and an ancient people live.

The access roads are your typical ‘African’ roads and when travelled makes for an experience of its own. A 4 x 4 is suggested, although standard vechiles have made the trip!! The nearest ‘shopping mall’ is in Umtata which is +/- 120 km away….

Fishing
Mpame presents its self with excellent fishing opportunities, with both rock and deep-sea fishing delivering exciting catches.

Rock Fishing

A number of the preferred rock angling spots on either side of the bay are within walking distance of the lodge, while the more challenging spots like the legendary Mbolompo Point are certainly not for the faint of heart and are accessible only by 4 x 4.

Deep Sea Fishing

For those wanting a more exhilarating deep-sea experience a suitable boat manned by a qualified skipper is available for charter at R120 per person per hour, with tackle and bait being supplied. Be aware that the skipper has a daily quota restriction and encourages a catch and release policy, in…

Activities

With virgin reef abounding in the surrounding ocean Bull’s Inn is becoming an increasingly popular scuba diving destination. Dives are charged at R150 per person with scuba tank refills charged at R20 each.

With Mpame Beach directly in front of the Lodge perfectly safe for swimming and surfing. Delightful gullies provide opportunity for endless hours of snorkeling, and fortunately, as the law prohibits the use of motor driven sports equipment on the river, the quiet sounds of nature remain blissfully uninterrupted.

The estuary and river are ideal for fishing, canoeing and paddling although the river does become inaccessible further up.

For the more energetic the nearby cliffs are ideal for abseiling enthusiasts, while the area lends itself to never-ending hiking and mountain biking opportunities.

With its magnificent coastal setting, neighbouring indigenous forest and sunrises and sunsets of breathtaking beauty, Bull’s Inn presents an unparalleled haven for birdwatchers, solitude seekers, photographers and artists alike.

Lodge Facilites:
Mpame Beach, safe for swimming, is directly on the Inn’s doorstep with rock angling hotspots within easy walking distance on either side of the bay.

The Inn is securely fenced ensuring safety of property and secure parking.
