Description
Welcome to Xirundu Beach Lodge: A secluded Beach Front Eco lodge situated in a Dune Forest Sanctuary.
This is a place for being together, eating good food, sharing memories and enjoying time in harmony with nature. Each house is situated to have privacy. The beach is quiet and gives space to enjoy time with loved ones. We are the perfect place for a family or group of friends to relax, reground and re-charge.
Xirundu is a beachfront Eco Lodge in a natural sanctuary that provides a peaceful environment, giving guests access to a robust, yet fragile ecosystem that ranges from coral reef and sandy beaches to forested dunes, lakes and wetlands that all offer unlimited opportunities to learn more about our environment. Local community traditions and culture offer a fascinating social backdrop.
Xirundu encourages environmental awareness focusing on concepts of re-cycle and re-use, water and energy conservation and the recognition that we are an integral part of our surroundings. This promotes a sense of well-being that we call “Beach and Dune Forest Therapy”, that revives and prepares you for what lies ahead.
Xirundu is situated by the Indian Ocean, nine kilometers from Chizavane – some 280 kilometres to the northeast of Mozambique’s capital city, Maputo. Chizavane is a small village in Gaza Province, Mozambique.
This unique combination of beach and bush offers a truly genuine opportunity to enjoy Mozambican flora, fauna and marine coast.
All accommodation is self-catering but fully serviced. Guards are on duty at night. Linens and towels are provided. Water comes from a deep borehole and is safe to drink. There are three nearby restaurants– two within easy walking distance and one a long walk on the beach or a short drive though the bush.Swimming, snorkelling, fishing, canoeing and beach walks are all possible in the immediate vicinity of the lodging. Walks through the dune forest or along the inland lakes also offer a beautiful abundance of flora and fauna, as well as perfect settings for sundowners.
The night skies are undimmed by light pollution and must be seen to be believed!
Constellations abound as do shootings stars and orbiting satellites, all on the backdrop of billions of points of light. A full moon rising over the sea and dunes is a sight you will not soon forget!
During whale season – between June and November – whales can be seen almost every day, often at close proximity. Sea turtles and dolphins are year-round residents.
Deep sea fishing charters can be arranged on request.
Please bring your binoculars and snorkelling gear with you!
