EMAWENI TUGELA CANYON LODGE

Emaweni Tugela Canyon Lodge is situated in Colenso, KwaZulu Natal.

Nestled in the heart of the rolling emerald-green mountains and surrounded by untouched natural beauty, the lodge offers breathtaking views where the sunrise and sunset paints the skies like a new canvas every day.

Emaweni boasts approximately 4000 hectares of pristine land with an abundance of single track trails perfect for guided game walks, trail running, quad bikes, off road bikes and much more.

Fishing:

With nearly 20km of Tugela river frontage, guests are able to enjoy some of the top wild river fishing in KZN and the most epic white water rafting in the country.

Seasonal white water rafting (prebooked and full payment prior to arrival) – price on request.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

Pools:

Main camp features not one but two sparkling pools. The infinity pool being the most popular of the two, as it is perfectly situated to soak up the tranquil views.

Jacuzzi:

Under the night sky, guests are welcome to enjoy our main camp’s jacuzzi as the wilderness whispers all around you.

Dams:

Main camp is perfectly situated near a selection of dams for the keen birders, game walks, drives and kayaking.

Guided walks, Game drives (self drive game drives are welcome provided guests have high clearance vehicles).

Relaxation:

Visitors can also embrace relaxation, where you get to wake up to the sound of birdsong and gentle mountain breezes, soak up some sun, read a good old book or sit with a cold one in hand at the fire.

Catering:

With the owners Theo and Angela both having been brought up in the food industry and in Greek homes, you are sure to not be left hungry.

They both pride themselves with warm hospitality and delicious meals made with love that will get you coming back for more.

Guests camping are welcome to book in for meals at Main Camp and are kindly requested to book prior to arrival.

EVENTS:

Emaweni hosts various exciting events. Trail runs, Women’s Wellness Weekends, Dad’s and Lad’s, just to name a few. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media pages for upcoming festivities.

Emaweni is also a perfect destination for private events like birthdays, engagement parties, hen parties etc. We are happy to host and coordinate these events for you provided the group of guests are 40pax and under.

Accommodation at Emaweni is best described as a rustic charm with a modern comfort. Each room offers beautiful views with front doors that open up to a landscape that makes you feel immersed in nature.

Emaweni’s main camp’s accommodation consists of four spacious rooms. All rooms are equipped with comfortable beds and linen, bath towels and coffee facilities.

All units have their own unique bathrooms.

There is Off Grid Camping situated at Main Camp:

No electricity or clean running water.
